Taking sacrifice out of sacrifice

MATTHEW 19: 27

27 Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What
then will there be for us?”

1. It is not sacrifice if you EXPECT to
GAIN from your sacrifice.

MATTHEW 19: 27 -29

27 Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What
then will there be for us?” 28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the
renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne,
you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the
twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers
or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake
will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

ACTS 4:32-35

32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of
their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With
great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord
Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there
were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned
land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the
apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. 36 Joseph, a
Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of
encouragement”), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at
the apostles’ feet.

MARK 12:41-44

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the
offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their
money into the temple treasury. Many rich people
threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and
put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few
cents. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said,
“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into
the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of
their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in
everything - all she had to live on.”

MATTHEW 19: 28 -29

28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things,
when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have
followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of
Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or

2. It is not sacrifice if you GAIN MORE
than what you sacrifice.

MATTHEW 19: 29

29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters

3. It is not sacrifice if LOVE is the
MOTIVE for your sacrifice.
