ZECHARIAH 1:1
1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word
of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah,
the son of Iddo:ZECHARIAH 1:1
1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word
of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah,
the son of Iddo: 2 “The LORD was very angry with your
ancestors.ZECHARIAH 1:3-4
3 Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says:
‘Return to me,’ declares the LORD Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’
says the LORD Almighty. 4Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the
earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Turn
from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or
pay attention to me, declares the LORD.EZEKIEL 8:3-4
3 The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God
he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner
court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood. 4 And there before
me was the glory of the God of Israel, as in the vision I had seen in the
plain.EZEKIEL 9:3
3 Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the
cherubim where it had been, and moved to the threshold of
the temple.EZEKIEL 11:23
23 The glory of the LORD went up from within the city and
stopped above the mountain east of it.1 SAMUEL 4:1-3
1 And Samuel’s word came to all Israel. Now the Israelites went out to
fight against the Philistines. The Israelites camped at Ebenezer, and the
Philistines at Aphek. 2 The Philistines deployed their forces to meet
Israel, and as the battle spread, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who
killed about four thousand of them on the battlefield.3 When the soldiers
returned to camp, the elders of Israel asked, “Why did the LORD bring
defeat on us today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the
LORD’s covenant from Shiloh, so that he may go with us and save us
from the hand of our enemies.”1 SAMUEL 4:4-7
4 So the people sent men to Shiloh, and they brought back the ark of the
covenant of the LORD Almighty, who is enthroned between the
cherubim. And Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the
ark of the covenant of God. 5 When the ark of the LORD’s covenant came
into the camp, all Israel raised such a great shout that the ground shook.
6 Hearing the uproar, the Philistines asked, “What’s all this shouting in
the Hebrew camp?” When they learned that the ark of the LORD had
come into the camp, 7 the Philistines were afraid. “A god has come into
the camp,” they said. “Oh no! Nothing like this has happened before.1 SAMUEL 4:8-11
8 We’re doomed! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty
gods? They are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of
plagues in the wilderness. 9 Be strong, Philistines! Be men, or you will be
subject to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Be men, and fight!”
10 So the Philistines fought, and the Israelites were defeated and every
man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great; Israel lost thirty
thousand foot soldiers. 11 The ark of God was captured, and Eli’s two
sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died.1 SAMUEL 4:17-19
17 The man who brought the news replied, “Israel fled before the
Philistines, and the army has suffered heavy losses. Also your two sons,
Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been captured.”
18 When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell backward off his chair by
the side of the gate. His neck was broken and he died, for he was an old
man, and he was heavy. He had led Israel forty years. 19 His
daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant and near the time of
delivery. When she heard the news that the ark of God had been captured
and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she went into labor
and gave birth, but was overcome by her labor pains.1 SAMUEL 4:20-21
20 As she was dying, the women attending her said, “Don’t despair; you
have given birth to a son.” But she did not respond or pay any attention.
21 She named the boy Ichabod, saying, “The Glory has departed from
Israel”.EZEKIEL 14:12-14
12 The word of the LORD came to me: 13 “Son of man, if a
country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out
my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine
upon it and kill its people and their animals, 14 even if these
three men - Noah, Daniel and Job - were in it, they could save
only themselves by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign
LORD.
God departs GRADUALLY.
God departs SEQUENTIALLY.
EZEKIEL 8:5-6
5 Then he said to me, “Son of man, look toward the north.” So I looked,
and in the entrance north of the gate of the altar I saw this idol of
jealousy. 6 And he said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they are
doing - the utterly detestable things the Israelites are doing here, things
that will drive me far from my sanctuary?
God departs FINALLY.
ZECHARIAH 1:3-6

5 Where are your ancestors now? [They are dead] And the prophets,
do they live forever? 6 But did not my words and my decrees, which I
commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your ancestors?
