1. Social Media has changed the way
we PRACTICE OUR FAITH.
a) We are forgetting the joy of face-to-face relationships.
JOHN 2:12
I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink.
Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that
our joy may be complete.
b) We are losing interest in the gathered church.
HEBREWS 10:23-25
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who
promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one
another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting
together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one
another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
c) We are slow to connect with God.
PSALM 62:1-2 NRSV
1 For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my
salvation. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I
shall never be shaken.
d) We are slow to follow Jesus.
LUKE 9:18-23
18 Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him,
he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” 19 They replied, “Some say
John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets
of long ago has come back to life.” 20 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who
do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.” 21 Jesus strictly warned
them not to tell this to anyone. 22 And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer
many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers
of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.” 23
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny
themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.
