JOHN 16:33
33 ‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have TROUBLE. But take heart! I have
overcome the world.’

1 JOHN 5:4-5
4 For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the
victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that
overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the
Son of God.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:7-11
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power
is from God and not from us. 8 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers
and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were
under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of
life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this
happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.
10 He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On
him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11 as you help us
by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious
favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

1. We have to ADMIT our INABILITY to
OVERCOME and RECOVER from a CRISIS.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:8

‘We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure,
so that we despaired of life itself’.

a) Our self-reliance needs to die.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:9-10
‘But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on
God, who raises the dead’. 10 He has delivered us from such a
deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set
our hope that he will continue to deliver us.’

b) So we can experience God’s power.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:7
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this

2. We have to ADMIT any PAINFUL
EMOTIONS and DEAL with it.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:9
9 Indeed, we felt we had received the
sentence of death.

3. We have to ADMIT we NEED the HELP of
OTHERS and we must ASK their HELP.

2 CORINTHIANS 1:10-11
On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver
us, 11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give
thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in
answer to the prayers of many.
