2 CORINTHIANS 5:15
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer
live for themselves but for him who died for them and
was raised again.PHILIPPIANS 2:3-5 NLT
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble,
thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out
only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.1 CORINTHIANS 3:1-3
1 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live
by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly-mere infants in
Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet
ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are still
worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you,
are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?
1. You are NOT the CENTER of the UNIVERSE.
COLOSSIANS 1:15-17
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and
on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
-
You’ll constantly want to gain attention to yourself.
-
You’ll be overly concerned what people think of you.
-
You become overly sensitive and touchy.
PHILIPPIANS 3:3-5 NLT
3 We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence
in human effort, 4 though I could have confidence in my own effort if
anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their
own efforts, I have even more! 5 I was circumcised when I was eight
days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the
tribe of Benjamin - a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a
member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the
Jewish law.PHILIPPIANS 3:6-9 NLT
6 I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for
righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. 7 I once thought these
things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of
what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when
compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as
garbage, so that I could gain Christ
9 and become one with him.
2. You must GIVE yourself AWAY.
JOHN 15:9-13
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in
my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your
joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I
have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down
one’s life for one’s friends.
-
You give expecting nothing in return.
LUKE 6:32-35
32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners
love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to
you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. 34 And if you lend to
those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even
sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your
enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get
anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children
of the Most High.’
- You give even if you have a need yourself.
