JAMES 5:10-11
10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of
suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As
you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have
heard of Job’s patience [KJV] and have seen what the Lord finally
brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.GALATIANS 5:22-24
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no
law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its
passions and desires.2 PETER 1:3-7
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our
knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through
these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through
them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in
the world caused by evil desires. 5 For this very reason, make every effort to
add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge,
self-control; and to self-control, patient endurance [KJV]; and to patient
endurance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual
affection, love.
THE PATIENCE OF JOB:
1. IT’S A TESTED PATIENCE.
EPHESIANS 4:2-3 NLT
2Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other
making allowance for each other’s faults because of your
love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the
Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.JAMES 1:2-4 NKJV
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various
trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces
patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work that you
may be perfect and complete , lacking nothing.
2. IT’S A DEVELOPING PATIENCE.
JOB 21:4 NLT
4 My complaint is with God not with people. I have
good reason to be so impatient.JOB 7:11 NIV
“Therefore I will not keep silent; I will speak out in
the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the
bitterness of my soul.JOB 7:19-21 NLT
19 Why won’t you (God) leave me alone, at least long enough
for me to swallow! 20 If I have sinned, what have I done to
you, O watcher of all humanity? Why make me your target?
Am I a burden to you? 21 Why not just forgive my sin and take
away my guilt? For soon I will lie down in the dust and die.
When you look for me, I will be gone.”JOB 19:25-27 NLT
25 “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand
upon the earth at last. 26 And after my body has decayed, yet in my
body I will see God! 27 I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him
with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!
3. IT’S AN ENDURING PATIENCE.
JAMES 5:11
11 As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You
