PHILIPPIANS 4:10-13
10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for
me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be
content whatever the circumstances.12 I know what it is to be in need, and
I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being
content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether
living in plenty or in want.
1. LEARN TO LIVE SIMPLY.
2. LEARN TO LIVE GRATEFULLY.
3. LEARN TO LIVE FAITHFULLY.
1 TIMOTHY 6:6-11
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing
into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food
and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich
fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires
that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a
root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered
from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.MATTHEW 6:24
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the
other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot
serve both God and money.DEUTERONOMY 8:10-14
10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for
the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful that you do not forget the
LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his
decrees that I am giving you this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are
satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your
herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you
have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will
forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land
of slavery.DEUTERONOMY 8:17-20
17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have
produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the LORD your God, for it
is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his
covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. 19 If you ever
forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow
down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be
destroyed. 20 Like the nations the LORD destroyed before you, so you will
be destroyed for not obeying the LORD your God.PROVERBS 30:8-9
8 Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. 9
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the
LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of
my God.’
